{"id":20,"date":"2011-06-13T15:11:36","date_gmt":"2011-06-13T20:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help.paulschwake.com\/?page_id=20"},"modified":"2013-04-02T17:07:42","modified_gmt":"2013-04-02T22:07:42","slug":"miscellaneous","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.paulschwake.com\/?page_id=20","title":{"rendered":"Miscellaneous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The power reboot<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Did you ever have a USB port that seemed to not want to recognize a device?\u00a0 Try this.\u00a0 Turn off your computer.\u00a0 Now, <em>unplug it<\/em> (if you have a laptop, also remove the battery).\u00a0 Press and hold the power button for five seconds, then release.\u00a0 Plug the computer back in (if it&#8217;s a laptop, install the battery first) and power it up.\u00a0 Try your USB device again, it may work now.\u00a0 If your computer ever won&#8217;t turn on, try the same procedure.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a smartphone that has been acting weird, you can try a similar procedure.\u00a0 Turn it off, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for five seconds, then release.\u00a0 Replace the battery and power on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Test your Internet connection speed and quality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click <a title=\"Internet speed test\" href=\"http:\/\/speedof.me\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> for test<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spam blocklists <\/strong>(acceptable for 100 users or less)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>bl.spamcop.net<\/li>\n<li>zen.spamhaus.org<\/li>\n<li>dnsbl.sorbs.net<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Show hidden devices in Device Manager in Windows XP<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><\/strong> Open a command prompt<\/li>\n<li>Type <strong>set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 <\/strong>&lt;ENTER&gt;<\/li>\n<li>Type <strong>start devmgmt.msc<\/strong> &lt;ENTER&gt;<\/li>\n<li>From within Device Manager, select View &#8211;
